Community Investments, Generational Changes Part 1, Feat. Tim Newton

This is an episode that you do not want to miss. Tim Newton is doing so much for his community, North Tulsa! He works with the non-profit, The Tulsa Dream Center, and he started his own tuition-free private school to improve the education for children in North Tulsa. He is also passionate about revitalizing neighborhoods and teaching home ownership skills to others.

Tim Newton grew up in inner-city Los Angeles, CA. He was raised by his grandparents Dorthy and Haywood. After dropping out of high school, mentors encouraged him to receive his GED, prep for the ACT, and eventually gain entry into the Georgia Institute of Technology where he earned his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.

His job sent him on a job project to Tulsa, OK, where he volunteered mentoring boys and girls and fell in love with the North Tulsa Community, and decided to quit his job to stay in Tulsa. After some time, he came to the Tulsa Dream Center and took the role of Program Director overseeing all the activities and operations of the center. He has put in place summer/after school programs, athletics teams and leagues, Saturday events, and many other enrichment activities from robotics to karate.

Tim is currently the acting school President at Drexel Academy Elementary School, and he desires to see every boy and girl excel in every aspect of life; from school, sports, in the community, and at home. He enjoys reaching out to young people at their schools, homes, or any place they may be; to encourage and motivate them to not go down the same road he went down. Tim’s slogan is, “Do your best and not settle for less.” He’s married to his beautiful wife Nichole, and together they have two kids, an 8-year-old girl (Avery) and a 4-year-old boy (Tim Jr.).

This is truly inspirational.
