The Yellow Brick Road

I watched the Wizard of Oz a couple of times in the past month. I always loved the movie, but hadn’t watched it in a very long time. Someone recently described it to me in terms of life and business, so I watched it with that in mind and learned how important having a team is.

There are some great lessons in this movie. I love it. We all probably get the part about home is in the heart and you can always go there. Important, but there is more.

Start with the journey, following the yellow brick road. No instructions about the road, just follow it. Sound familiar?

Everything we do is essentially following a road that we know nothing about. We start knowing that we are heading to the “Emerald City”. I get scared just thinking about it.

It’s time to gather your team and make some decisions. There will definitely be forks in the road and times that feel pretty dark. At the first fork in the road, we have a decision to make.

And when we aren’t sure what to do, someone (scarecrow) shows up to offer assistance. A brain right when you need it.

You two support each other until you need the next helper, tin man, we all could use more heart! Last and certainly not least we need courage, the lion, to help us get across the line to our goal.

Then when you think you are so close to getting what you want, things go really dark. You have to accomplish something you never thought about.

None of you feel equipped to handle the task. You gather your courage, your heart and your brain and off you go to conquer that witch

Money with Mission is here to team with you. We can be your brain when you need extra, your heart when you are afraid and remind you how courageous you are by starting the journey in the first place.
