True Wealth Starts From Within

When we talk about wealth, most people jump straight to numbers:   income, net worth, portfolios. And while those things matter, they don’t tell the full story.

Recently, I had the honor of sitting down with Sun Yong Kim-Manzolini, a woman whose journey redefines what wealth truly looks like. From surviving complete familial abandonment and being left in a South Korean orphanage to building a life of purpose and financial independence in America, her story reminded me that real wealth doesn’t start in the bank.

True wealth starts from within.

From Survival to Self-Belief

Sun Yong didn’t just rise above her circumstances.  She transformed them. She didn’t wait for external permission to heal or succeed. Instead, she chose to believe in her worth long before the world caught up.

As she shared her experiences, one truth echoed louder than any dollar amount: healing and self-worth are non-negotiable steps in the wealth-building journey.

So many of us try to build from the outside in, thinking that if we earn more, we’ll feel secure, or if we save more, we’ll feel free.

But without inner work, outer wealth feels like a hollow victory.

What Can You Do Today?

You don’t have to have it all figured out. You don’t need the perfect plan. But you do need to take the first step.

Here’s how to begin:

  • Reflect on the story you’re telling yourself about money.

  • Ask: Is this belief mine? Or did I inherit it from fear, trauma, or someone else’s voice?

  • Replace it with one that serves who you’re becoming, not who you’ve been.
